Helping a child find their voice is more than just speech therapy.
It is about unlocking confidence, connection, and the ability to engage with the world. I have spent over 25 years working with children of all abilities, supporting them as they navigate challenges in communication, social interaction, and language development.
My journey as a speech-language pathologist began with a master’s in speech pathology from Michigan State University, followed by ASHA board certification in 1997. Early in my career, I worked in hospitals and rehabilitation centers, treating adults recovering from brain injuries, strokes, and swallowing disorders. But it was my transition to working with children that shaped the therapist I am today.
For years, I served as a lead speech therapist at The Spectrum Center, a non-public school for children with severe behavioral and communication challenges. There, I developed individualized therapy plans for students with autism, apraxia, and complex language needs. I often worked with teachers and families to create communication systems that supported students across school and home environments. My work led to system-wide changes across multiple campuses, improving how communication skills were reinforced throughout the day.
In 2004, I founded Communication Bridge Therapies to bring that same collaborative, tailored approach to families throughout the Bay Area. Today, I specialize in supporting children with a wide range of communication needs, from early language delays to executive functioning challenges. I have particular expertise in gestalt language processing, a unique way of learning language that is common among autistic children. Whether working with toddlers just starting to build their vocabulary or teenagers struggling with social communication, my goal is always the same. I help children access and express their language in a way that feels natural and empowering.
Therapy should never feel like a chore. My approach is child-centered and engaging, using each child’s unique interests to make progress feel exciting and achievable. I believe in working alongside parents, teachers, and other specialists to ensure that communication skills do not just exist in therapy sessions. They become part of daily life.
